OUR STORY

Sunday Dreamin is a New American Restaurant and Cafe founded by two Asian American childhood friends — Maurice Yang and Sonny Liu — who wanted to share their experiences and the food they ate growing up with the rest of the City. Growing up on the Lower East Side, both friends shared the type of cuisines they ate — much of which was American, Asian, and Latin American. At Sunday Dreamin, they are using American Cuisine as the foundation — modernizing the dishes by incorporating the Latin American and Asian flavors that they became familiar with as two real New Yorkers — growing up in New York City.

Born in Mexico — Executive Chef Juan Martinez — came to the United States and started working in restaurants as a dish washer. Chef Martinez then advanced to Line Cook, and he quickly realized that he had to pursue his natural talent. Now — with over 20 years of cooking experience — Juan has worked in many fine dining restaurants all over the City — including Empellon, Delmonico’s, American Cut, Enoteca, and Saigon Dep.
